Turkey has become one of the fastest growing drone pilots Turkey markets, exceeding 1.65 million licensed operators.

Türkiye has reached a new milestone in its unmanned aerial systems (UAS) ecosystem, with the number of licensed drone pilots surpassing 1.65 million, according to official data released by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

The announcement marks one of the largest nationally registered drone pilot bases globally, highlighting the country’s rapid expansion in both civilian and dual-use drone capabilities.


📊 Key Figures (as of March 17, 2026)

  • Licensed Drone Pilots: 1,655,918
  • New Applications (2026 YTD): 54,075
  • Growth Rate: +236% (year-on-year, first quarter comparison)
  • Registered Active UAVs: 77,616
  • New UAV Registrations (2026 YTD): 1,091

These figures were confirmed by Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu in an official statement on March 22, 2026.

  • Minimum pilot age: 12 (İHA0 category)
  • Streamlined digital registration and flight permission system
  • Separation of hobby and commercial operations
